Redmond McWilliams, a graduate of Plymouth University, is the founder of The Highgate Cemetery Vampire Appreciation Society Facebook group and forum. An avowed sceptic on all things supernatural, he nevertheless devotes a lot of his free time to researching this thorny subject. He is a strong advocate for (and a practitioner of) the multidisciplinary approach to the study of the paranormal; a methodology that involves the combining of several, usually separate, branches of learning or fields of expertise to tackle complex topics like that of the Highgate ‘vampire’. That very ethos is enshrined by his society which actively encourages a ‘broad church’ within its membership.
On occasion he will speak about his research at paranormal themed gatherings, and from time to time is interviewed on online podcast shows about the ‘vampire’ and other related phenomena.
Redmond is currently in the process of writing two books concerning the Highgate ‘vampire’ case. One will provide a fully comprehensive and academic (yet layman-friendly) appraisal of the phenomenon. The other, a Dennis Wheatley/Hammer Horror- inspired occult novel, will provide its readership with a ‘side-stepped’, first hand account of what really went on in this relatively genteel district of North London, when evil walked its most hallowed ground …
Redmond lives in Morden, Surrey with his partner.
